Do you know your Area 51
Lessons from the world’s largest military base.
Area 51 is the largest military base in the world. A 2019 BBC report said the entire range covers more than 2.9 million acres of land. It is located in the desert of southern Nevada in the USA and began operation in 1955. Interestingly, only a few people will ever see it. This is because it was designed to be kept secret. The US government never admitted that the place existed until 2013 when the CIA officially acknowledged it. That’s how classified Area 51 is. Everything (except two missions I don’t want to mention) about the activities in the place is classified. Many even believe that alien-related experiments are happening there.
No mortal can access this place unless by top security clearance and special invitation. If you ever do, you must sign an oath of secrecy. Relax, that’s not all. I read in a book that on the first day at work, all staff (about 1500 people who work there) of Area 51 must sign away their constitutional rights and agree to have their home telephone bugged. You know what that is, isn’t it?
What’s the address of Area 51? If you ask me, na who I go ask? Lol. This facility is in a remote location and cannot be accessed by road (Some reports said that its staff chatters flights from Las Vegas to reach there). In fact, the airspace over the base is forbidden for any pilot, civilian, and military. You will be shot down without questions or explanation if you ever attempt to enter the airspace.
Let’s kuku break this table. Area 51 is forbidden territory for every citizen of the United States of America. Now, I know what you’re thinking… when did I become a military narrator and how is Area 51 your business?
Wait…
Area 51 can be many things to us. It could be that destructive habit you (may not) know is killing you but you cannot put it under check because of whatever reason. It could even be an instruction/nudging not to ever consider fleeing ‘permanently’ out of your country because that business of yours will soon blossom and will take you around the world. It could be you trying to be what you are not meant to be. It could be a greenlight about the babe you are currently dating. It could be anything!
Obsession with fast and easy prosperity is Area 51. The tree of the knowledge of good and evil in Eden was Area 51. Area 51 can be many things to all of us but one thing is sure, there are grievous consequences for entering Area 51. You will be gunned down because it’s a danger zone with no respect for any person.
50–50
Every man must know one thing — even the most confused man — and that is what they don’t want/what they cannot be/what they cannot do. That’s the first step to solving many dilemmas in our lives. If you know the NO side of things, we will be able to focus on getting the best YES.
If you know your Area 51, the forbidden place, you are able to focus on recognising the best from the options left. If you like call it the 50–50 principle. First, remove the bad 50, so you can focus on getting the best of the other 50. It’s better than having to select the best out of 100 in a pool.
For instance, in love, if you know the kind of woman you cannot commit yourself to then you can focus on selecting the suitable one from the variety of the ones you can date.
If you know the kinds of businesses you cannot invest your money in then you can focus on the ones you can invest in.
Know your Area 51 across the board so that you can get to the best choice faster. I may not know what I want but I know what I don’t want. That’s the first step to making choices. In arithmetic, they advise you to know the known before finding the unknown. It is the same thing here. You will get the unknown faster when you know the known.
Sometimes, don’t play safe
Many times, Area 51 can be you trying to play safe with something by finding refuge at your perceived greener pasture when you are supposed to withstand the fire and come out shining. Many have done this and that was their end.
People have gone to Area 51 because they cannot withstand the input required to stay to succeed where they are. They saw the storm coming and hastily fled to Area 51 for safety and comfort but that was the end of them.
In Christian theology, they’d say that Lot, Abraham’s nephew, chose the best of the land when his uncle gave him a blank check. He chose Sodom (Area 51) and paid dearly for it. He hurriedly picked a ready-made place as many people today would but he eventually (but for God) rushed out of the place.
There is nothing in Area 51 other than bitter consequences. Everything we want is outside our comfort zone if we can put in the work. Comfort is Area 51 on many occasions.
A final note
If you are already on your way to Area 51, make a U-turn. It looks like the easy and fastest way but ‘your plane will never be able to descend.’ It’ll be shot down mid-air. Be a good student of yourself. There may be more than one Area 51 in your life. Find it and never go there. Instead of letting circumstances push you to Area 51, stand your ground and weather the storm.
